Throughout history, herbs have played a significant role in the culinary world, with mint, basil, tarragon, and rosemary enhancing the texture and flavor of dishes while providing numerous health benefits. Their versatility is as diverse as their range. Mint, for example, can add a kick to Thai or Middle Eastern cuisine and depth to seafood dishes. It can also be used to brew tea or create a refreshing Mojito cocktail, perfect for a sunset drink.
Similarly, parsley’s clean, refreshing taste can cut through heavy dishes, act as a palate cleanser, elevate soups, and form an essential part of a bouquet garni for stews and stocks.
Basil is another versatile herb. A delightful snack for a Maltese summer could be a slice of fresh bread with tomatoes, olives, capers, tuna, and mint. For a more elaborate meal, consider pasta with basil pesto for a perfect al fresco lunch.
Using the same herbs we sponsored the first season of MasterChef Malta with, our own professional Chef’s, Marsiella Camilleri & Mireille Ladage will be participating in Herb Weekend on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th to demonstrate cooking with fresh herbs, showcasing delicious herb-infused recipes while teaching you how to elevate your culinary skills like a true master chef.
Piscopo Gardens is hosting its annual Herb Weekend starting from Friday, 15th March, to Sunday, 17th March 2024, from 9 am to 6 pm to celebrate herbs.
Special offers on a wide selection of fresh herbs, giving you the opportunity to start your own little fresh herb garden at home with our knowledgeable staff available to guide you on how to take care of them. We will also have exciting offers on selected plants, gardening supplies, and selected pet-related items throughout the 3 days.
Additionally, there will be a mocktail bar preparing delicious and free herb-infused drinks to complement our chef’s delicious recipes, music, entertainment for children, and a pet-friendly environment.
The event is free and free parking will be available on a first come first serve basis.
